Warm Winter Fruit Compote is nice to have on hand during the cold weather, and makes a great topping for yogurt, oatmeal, waffles, ice cream, and more!

Ingredients

1 tart red apple, cored, thinly sliced

1 firm pear, cored, thinly sliced

1/2 cup whole dried apricots

1/2 cup dried cherries

1 cup apple cider

2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized pot over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 18-20 minutes, until apples and pears are soft and dried fruit is plump, and liquid has reduced slightly.
  2. Serve compote warm over yogurt, oatmeal, rice pudding, waffles, pancakes, or ice cream!
