After the success of my crispy, roasted pepperoni chickpeas for my Pizza Salad recipe, I wanted to experiment with other places I could create pepperoni flavor. In researching other pizza hummus recipes, they just didn’t hit the right flavor combinations I was searching for. I wanted pepperoni flavor, cheesy flavor, tomato flavor, a little tang and plenty of spice - all the best parts of a slice of pepperoni pizza, but in dip form. This recipe is it, friends!

I know this recipe is going to be on repeat all through football season in my house, because it’s an awesome game day snack. But it can also be prepped ahead, making it perfect for back-to-school lunches (or work lunches!).

15-oz. can chickpeas, drained and rinsed (reserve 1/3 cup of the liquid in the can [aquafaba])
2 cloves garlic, peeled
1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tsp. fennel seeds
1 tsp. smoked paprika
1 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1/3 cup reserved aquafaba or water
Pita chips, pretzels, crackers, and/or vegetables, for dipping and serving
